While spotting a rat in the garden can be an unpleasant experience and they can damage fruit, vegetables, bulbs, plants, shed doors and wires, they should also be considered a serious health risk.  We used Milestone weed killer in the past on our spotted knapweed. It is an aminopyralid. The label is very specific with the warnings about plant sensitivity, even certain pine and fir trees are sensitive. If you spray a pasture, animals do not have to be removed and there is no meat/milk withdrawl (just quoting the labels, here), but they do warn about moving the animals to a pasture with susceptible species (clover, alfalfa, etc.) within a certain number of days and all manure must be aged for at least one year before being used on susceptible crops. Unfortunately, unless we grow everything ourselves, we never know what has been used. I did have an issue like that one year, and it was way back when I had used the aminopyralid spray and planted some extra tomato plants outside the general garden area and that is exactly how they looked. Question 3 is something that I’m starting to see as the bridge between “Length 12” and “Length x” from the original problem statement.  If you can do it with 1000, then you can do it with x.  Question 6 was also nice because some students used their formula to show that the garden length would not be a whole number if it used 2011 tiles, while other students made the reasonable observation that every garden tile number is even. We all lead pretty busy lives these days and between juggling our work, family, sporting and social lives we’re left with little time for the things such as gardening, baking or even getting a good homemade meal on the table. Report that your garden waste was not collected, or that your bin is damaged or missing. Being in touch with nature improves your health and overall happiness. It is very relaxing to do things in nature and natural experiences can reduce stress and leave us feeling peaceful. There is no better way to get in touch with nature and natural rhythms than growing and caring for your own food. You don’t have to have a garden or even a yard, you can grow beautiful plants on your balcony or even in your living room. Even a few plants will produce a good amount of food for you to eat or share with friends and family. Aminopyralids take 3-7 years to break down. The fastest way to remediate the problem is to remove as much as possible of the contaminated organic material. Contact with soil microbes is necessary to get the aminopyralid to biodegrade. So keeping the soil moist and turning it often so the offending organic matter is always in contact with soil microbes so that it breaks down as quickly as possible. Composting won’t break down aminopyralids. It has to be soil. Also you could try to grow something like lettuce to see if your whole garden is contaminated or just a small area. Any plant affected with aminopyralid will contaminate any soil it comes into contact with. Aminopyralids pass through animals unchanged so the manure is also unusable. “Hang the garden makeover; anyone who favors natural, twiggy plant supports can have an authentic English cottage garden,” she wrote in an early post, which breezily laid out the history of the cottage garden, explained the differences among various willow arbors and supports, and offered design suggestions for incorporating same into a landscape. Found out that mushroom soil is composted horse manure – loads of weed seeds! IDC’s ‘Three Platforms’ definition30 (first: mainframe, second: client/server, third: mobile/social) gives us some insight into just how important any ethical obligations in the walled-garden ecosystems will be over time – each platform is typified by orders of magnitude more applications that might be used by consumers, thus increasing the number of potential vectors from which users might be adversely impacted. As such, it will likely require ongoing vigilance from users and independent security/data protection groups, as well as the likes of Apple and Google in order to limit user exposure to fraud, and this is an area that will undoubtedly receive increasing attention as smartphones and other highly portable computing devices grow in use, particularly where such use supplants older generation services. Hello am66,     Is there any way you can find a space in your back garden for the feeders, I assume that is fenced off for your greyhound as he would be a good deterrent to the cats.  I’m sorry you found feathers and remains of a bird but it is possible a Sparrowhawk could have predated the bird and not a cat as I think cats tend to take their prey away/ home and in tact.     There is an ultrasonic device that seems to get good reviews on Amazon website  HERE   and I know a fellow member on here (  Monkeycheese ) has just purchased two of them so maybe when he has had chance to test them out he can advise you how well they work.    Good luck, hope the cats get the message to stay out of your garden so you can continue to enjoy the visiting birds.    Lydia’s box garden.
