Where: In clusters, under leaves, and on new plant growth of indoor and outdoor gardens. Be sure you are not overwatering–tomatoes that have been in the garden a few weeks can be watered every three or four days. Allow the first inch of soil to dry before watering again. Pale leaves may also be an indication of pest insects feeding on the leaves; check the undersides of leaves to be sure pest insects are not harboring there. Oh My Gosh, when you described what happen to your garden happened to my garden I planted 50 foot row of corn and 6 plants came up and never did get bigger than 12 inches. My green beans I had 4 plants and picked 3 beans off. My husband dumped manure and old hay out of the goat/sheep barn and he feed hay which I am sure had been sprayed. Thank you for telling us about your problem. I use blackcat firecrackers to scare off strays, possums, etc. Maybe they will work for deer also? Also, I mulched my garden 2 years ago and everything died. I was told mulching robbed it of it’s nitrogen. This year I shoveled in a truckload of mushroom compost and it is still not doing well. I suppose next I’ll have to plant a bunch of clover to restore the nitrogen. Have you added a commercial potting mix or soil to your window boxes or planting beds that contains a moisture-retentive polymer? These ploymers soak up water and then slowing release back into the soil; they have a clear jelly like appearance when hydrated. Another possibility is slime molds, a single-celled organism, that lives on dead plant material, often in lawns or garden beds. If you suspect slime mold, take a sample to a nearby office of the state agriculture office for identification. You can dig around slime mold organisms and remove them from the garden and dispose of them, but the spores that begin their growth may remain in the garden and form new organisms. My garden is windy Rake out thatch in September or early spring with a garden rake or scarifier. It is guaranteed that there is at least one bucket such that it is possible to water the garden in integer number of hours using only this bucket. Roses, the world’s favourite flowers, are great garden performers that, if well cared for, will live for many years. Therefore in order to establish if there is an ethical obligation for the curtailment of fraudulent activity we will have to look elsewhere for inspiration. In this, we might turn our attention to the notion of trust, and a comparison to a different form of market – the pawnbroker. First, in establishing their ‘walled garden’ application marketplaces, Apple and Google have at least implicitly created a statement of trust between themselves and the consumer: content is curated and verified, therefore it should, to a degree, be deemed trustworthy. Hi everyone, I have been feeding the birds in my garden for sometime, i don’t have a great variety of birds, mostly blackbird & sparrows but its nice to see them feeding. However, it looks like someone near by,( i don’t know who), has acquired a couple of cats  and i have seen them in my garden. I have a greyhound and I am sure that if the cats get chased by him they won’t be back in a hurry however my dog does not go in front garden as it is not secure. yesterday my worst fears were confirmed when I came in and found feathers and remains of a bird in the front garden > I am so upset, and I don’t know whether to carry on putting food out now. I have to say I am not a big fan of cats because of the sheer amount of harm they do to wildlife, a lot of problems could be solved by people keeping them in from dawn till dusk which is when they kill the most birds. From past experience things to deter cats never seem to work, but if anyone has any ideas i would be pleased to hear them 🙂 We pride ourselves on our dedication to resolving whatever issues you have with your garden and offer comprehensive solutions for those little neglected areas you don’t quite know what to do with. Jill, I’ve used the deep mulch method now for two seasons. A local tree company brings truckloads of wood chips to me free of charge whenever I need them. They are happy to have a place to dump the clippings so it’s a win-win. Of course there is no knowing what’s been sprayed on the trees (hopefully not any since it’s mainly trimmings from roadside power lines) but at least I know it’s not broad leaf herbicide that’s being consumed by grazing animals. The diversity of organic matter is also very beneficial to the soil and over time supports perennial vegetables, fruit and nut trees. It’s true there is a huge benefit to deep mulch gardening with the decrease in watering and weeding. There are other issues that I’m figuring out as I go along but so far so good and I plan to continue with this method. Join in and write your own page! It’s easy to do. How? An attractive standard plant, urn or statuette at the end of the garden will provide a focal point and draw the eye to the garden’s furthest part, tricking you into seeing it as larger than it is. Benches with lift-up lids give more storage. If you need a play area for children, swap tiles for decking in the lower part of the garden and sink a hidden sandpit beneath a section of it. ?
